A long, almost processional, pathway leads to its entrance as if the ancient Angkor Oscars ceremony were being hosted there. The building itself was modeled after a sacred mountain, giving it its majestic appearance. Like many of the Angkor temples, Baphuon started out as a holy Hindu shrine, but was later converted to a Buddhist sanctuary when the religious tides of the region changed.<\/p>\n<p>Climbing to the top of the temple offered a sweeping view of the area. As big as the temple is, it seems somewhat hidden among the trees and verdant surrounding.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em><strong>See what other blogs are saying about the Baphuon temple:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;has a very long entrance way that I believe used to be surrounded by moats. \u00a0The sounds of all the different insects as you walk along the path is entrancing. \u00a0Make sure you wear your mosquito repellent, or cover your arms and legs well. \u00a0You can go up two large stairways to the top of Baphuon, and there you are rewarded with great photo ops of Ankor Thom.&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8211;<a title=\"Pandoni Travels\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pandonitravels.com\/photography\/ankor-day-1\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pandoni Travels<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;we began walking around to see some of the other sites, starting with Baphuon. This 11th century temple mountain is located next to the Royal Palace.
